Whether you are just starting out as a social entrepreneur or are an established charity looking for new auditors, we can provide a full range of services to meet your needs.

Our main services are outlined below, but if you have a particular project in mind please call us for a chat.

Audit & independent examination

We are committed to delivering a robust, high-quality and insightful audit. Our aim is to provide assurance and peace of mind to trustees, whilst also providing tangible benefits to the Finance Team by offering practical support and advice.

Our friendly and collaborative approach is underpinned by an in-depth knowledge of the charity sector. We only audit charities and social enterprises, so we can guarantee that your audit team will have a comprehensive understanding of both the regulatory environment and the operational challenges facing charities.

Year end accounts

We can prepare your full statutory accounts in accordance with all relevant legislation and accounting standards. Where appropriate, your accounts will be iXBRL-tagged to comply with HMRC submission requirements.

For charities, we recognise that your accounts play an important role in communicating what you do. We will help you to present your financial information in the best way possible, maximising your fundraising potential and making sure that the story behind the numbers shines through.

Outsourced bookkeeping provides the peace of mind that your accounts are accurate and up to date. You will also benefit from regular financial information and analysis to help you make better business decisions.

We offer flexible and bespoke bookkeeping solutions. Whether you want to outsource everything or just access a bit of ad hoc support, we can create a solution that works for you. We can work from your premises using your systems, or we can work remotely using the latest cloud-based accounting technology. Either way, you’ll have a dedicated bookkeeper working with you, as well as access to our wider team of specialists.

Outsourcing payroll can save you time and money whilst taking the stress out of staying compliant with current HMRC regulations.

We offer a comprehensive outsourced payroll service, specialising in solutions for charities, not-for-profit organisations and ethical companies, aiming to ease the administrative burden of payroll processing so you can focus on making a positive impact in the world.

Our dedicated team provides a wealth of experience in payroll, including knowledge of unique charity payroll requirements and are committed to providing the ongoing support and guidance you need to navigate payroll processes with confidence.

With our payroll service you’ll not only save valuable time but enjoy peace of mind knowing your payroll will be handled with the precision and compliance essential to keep your people paid accurately and on time.

Our tax compliance service covers the preparation and submission of personal and corporation tax returns, as well as quarterly VAT returns. Our tax advisory service helps you to understand how tax applies to you and how to structure your activities in the most tax-efficient way. Tax for charities can be particularly complex.  We have a detailed knowledge of charity tax exemptions and reliefs, and years of experience in how to structure your activities for tax. Here are some of the ways we can help:

  • Gift Aid compliance, including gift aid on memberships and admissions, the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme and the Retail Gift Aid Scheme;
  • VAT advice, including VAT reviews, partial exemption and non-business activities, and VAT reliefs;
  • Corporation tax advice, primary purpose trading, small scale trading exemptions and setting up a trading subsidiary; and
  • Theatre tax relief advice, including whether you are eligible and how to calculate your tax reclaim.

Training & mentoring

We strongly believe in empowering those we work with so they can build their own skill-set and reduce their reliance on external support. We offer a variety of services for both finance and non-finance staff, from bespoke training for individuals and small groups, to delivering commissioned training sessions at external events.

Our mentoring scheme is designed for finance staff who are taking on new areas of responsibility (such as financial strategy, charity accounting, or management accounting). We work with you to identify your training and development needs, agree objectives and set timescales in which to achieve them. Through a series of regular sessions, we will help you to build your confidence and skills. We can also provide remote support by phone or email to troubleshoot on specific issues.

We are happy to undertake ad hoc consultancy projects across a variety of disciplines. Here are some examples of projects we have done recently:

  • Implementing a cloud-based accounting system
  • Advising on trading subsidiaries
  • Assisting with the development of a reserves policy
  • Advising on the Retail Gift Aid Scheme
  • Reviewing corporate structures
  • Recruiting finance personnel
  • Registering a new charity
  • Trustee training on good governance
